Student reflections on the 2010 SAYA Program

As students begin the new semester. Some are going back to school with fond memories from their Spring Festival holiday. Fourteen students and one teacher, Ms. Einhe He, were the first-ever participants of the Ameson Foundation’s latest exchange program the Sino-American Youth Ambassadors program, or SAYA.

Their excitement and appreciation is reflected in some of the featured essays the participating students wrote.

SAYA Preview: students prepare to go to the U.S.

In less than two weeks, 14 students will go to the U.S. as the first group to participate in the SAYA program. While in the U.S., the students will give presentations sharing various aspects of life and culture in China.

From presentations about food to martial arts to daily life as a student, the Chinese students are excited about going to the U.S., attending an American high school for a week and sharing a little of China with their new friends.

First edition of The Voice has arrived

Students will finally be able to make their voices heard! The first edition of the Ameson-sponsored newspaper, The Voice, is complete!

The newspaper will be distributed to high schools, Ameson offices, and admission offices around the world and features articles from students, teachers, professors, principals and even Ameson staff.

The newspaper is the first of its kind for Ameson and a great achievement for the students.

International Culture Festival and Christmas party held in Nanjing Municipality

Ameson Foundation and Jinling High School Hexi Branch co-hosted a Christmas party on Christmas Day, 2009 to familiarize students with Western culture and also to celebrate the holiday season.

The event took place at the multi-functional hall of Jinling High School Hexi Branch. It kicked off at 2 pm and lasted for around three hours. School principals of Jinling high School, teachers and parents of the students also attended the event.

Ameson Institute students admitted to U.S. universities

Several students at the Ameson Institute in Nanjing have been admitted to U.S. universities through Early Decision.

Wang Tianwei, admitted to Vanderbilt University; Yao Yuan,admitted to Case Western Reserve University; and Zhang Rongzhen, admitted to Worcester Polytechnic Institute, are all students of Ameson's AP program.

Students take SAT exam in Hong Kong

Students enrolled in the U.S. High School Program at Ameson Institute in Nanjing took a trip to Hong Kong during December 4 - 6 to take the SAT Reasoning Test. The SAT took place on December 5 at the Hong Kong Taoist Association The Yuen Yuen Institute No. 2 Secondary School, a SAT test center located in Tai Po, New Territories, Hong Kong.


The SAT Reasoning Test includes test in Critical Reading, Mathematics, and Writing. And the test lasted from around 8:45 in the morning until 1:15 pm.

Students of the AP class

The AP courses at Ameson are taught in English. The program lasts from July to the following May, and students spend almost a year preparing for the exams hopeful to experience university life in the US.

The first step in the program is intensive English courses to improve their language proficiency. Second, there is the SAT exam and different AP courses. Here is a feature story about the AP students at the Ameson Institute in Nanjing.

Eleven students granted AP awards

In addition to Ameson's highest number of students taking AP Exams, the 2009 AP class now also has the most students from Ameson to receive awards from the College Board. Eleven of the 16 students who took AP exams in 2009 received awards and special recognition based on the number of tests taken and their scores. Tests taken include English literature, economics, calculus and even physics. "It is clear indicator that of the outstanding ability of our students and the high quality of instruction by the teachers, Prof. Sean Zhang says.

Teachers arrive for new school year

August 24 was the start of Ameson’s teacher orientation week where teachers, new and old, participated in workshops, seminars and even a little bit of socializing. With 11 new teachers joining Ameson across 7 schools in Jiangsu and Anhui Province, Ameson's presence in the education community continues to expand in China. In the view of Prof. Sean Zhang, the Deputy Chairman of the Ameson Foundation, “Ameson is pleased, with the quality of the educators we have arranged, for our 2009-2010 school year programs in Jiangsu and Anhui.

Ameson teachers graduate from training workshops

A 'newly recruited teachers’ training workshop' successfully concluded at Ameson Institute with a special graduation ceremony held at the Ameson Institute, in Nanjing.

The Principal of Ameson Institute, Ameson’s Senior Advisor, and the Deputy Chairman of the Ameson Foundation made speeches and gave last-minute advice to the teachers. Some of the teachers also shared their their sense of accomplishment gained from the three-week workshops.
